OUR STAFF

TIM VAUGHN

Senior Pastor

Having spent many years as a local church pastor, as a missionary to Germans, and as a church planter, God led Pastor Tim to Tega Cay at the end of 2019. His calling is definitely to be a pastor, preacher, and counselor –not a CEO or a stage personality. He often tells people that if they go to a church where the pastor is too important to climb a ladder and knock the wasp nest off the church building, then RUN!
Pastor Tim is an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves fan, loves German food, Mexican food, Snickers bars, and coffee – just no red beets! With a bachelor’s degree from UNC Charlotte in History and International Studies, he enjoys a good historical documentary or movie. Seminary training was at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, where he received his Master of Divinity. Since then, Tim has completed several post-graduate programs in counseling and leadership.
Tim and his wife, Kim, have been married since 1980, have two grown daughters (Mackenna and Lauren), two sons-in-law (Jimmy and Jordan), and six grandchildren (Liam, Camille, Hazel, Nolan, Maddox, and Titus). Stay around Tim long enough and he will definitely show you pictures of the grandkids!
Pastor Tim would love to hear from you at tim@tegacaybaptist.org or on Facebook or Instagram.

AMBER MABRY

Kids Ministry Director

Amber began her ministry as Kids Ministry Director in 2018 after being a member and involved parent at TCBC since 2008.  Amber’s role shepherds kids from birth through 5th grade.  She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Penn State University. She moved to Charlotte in 2005, then Tega Cay in 2008.  Prior to joining staff at TCBC Amber worked for a Christian adoption agency, as well as secular positions in the mortgage and retail industries.  She has been married to her husband Randy since 2008 and they have 4 daughters ranging from elementary through high school ages.  She enjoys a good book and a quiet space, chocolate, hiking, and the mountains. Her desire is to raise and teach Biblically literate kids to become followers of an amazing God at a young age.  Her passion is the mother daughter ministry at TCBC and a few of her favorite events are the annual mother daughter retreat (established 2021) and VBS!

JONATHAN LEFTWICH

Worship & Student Director

“With a diverse background and a passion for serving others, Jonathan has been part of our church community since November 2021. For over eight years, Jonathan has been dedicated to leading worship throughout the Charlotte area, creating an environment where hearts and voices joyfully give praise, honor, and glory to God for who He is and what He has done for us through Jesus Christ. Alongside worship, Jonathan has spent the past five years guiding and inspiring students in the Fort Mill area on how to live for Christ and apply God’s Word in their lives daily. Outside of ministry, Jonathan enjoys time with his wife, Hannah, and their energetic aussiedoodle, Winston. Together, they strive to serve The Lord with their actions and lifestyle through community and hospitality.”

KARIE DUVERNAY

Administrative Assistant

Karie has been a part of the TCBC staff since June 2024. She was born and raised in VA and graduated from Radford University with a degree in Elementary Education. In 2006 she moved to Charlotte to pursue her teaching career. There, she met her husband, Seth, who she has been married to since 2010. Karie and Seth have two children (Whitlee and Pierce), both in elementary school. She and her family moved to Tega Cay in 2021. After 16 years of teaching, she began to feel God calling her to a different role where she would have more time and energy to focus on her family.
Karie loves meeting new people and making them smile. She has a heart for serving and loves being able to use the skills she acquired from teaching to create material for the church community to enjoy.
She jokingly says that she should have been a nutritionist, as she has a passion for all things health and wellness related! She and her family love to be outdoors and you can almost always find them cruising around in their golf cart on a beautiful day!

OUR STRUCTURE

Jesus Christ: (Ephesians 5:22-33) The Lord Jesus Christ is the Head of the church. He purchased the church with His blood that was shed on the cross. We are His bride. We follow His lead.

CongregationThe Congregation will be the highest human authority of TCBC and is the population of members. The Congregation will affirm leaders (Elders and Deacons) by vote and will entrust and empower them to oversee and coordinate the Ministry Teams.

Elders: (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9) An Elder is an ordained man charged with the task of leading the spiritual direction of the church. The Elder Body or The Elders is a team of Elders. The Elders must be able to teach, exhort in sound doctrine and refute those who contradict the Scriptures. They are a team of equals who will exercise oversight, accountability and be responsible for providing clear vision to the church. The Elder Body models and teaches biblical godliness, equips the saints for the work of the ministry, prays, teaches, upholds doctrine, oversees church discipline, restores and reclaims members and shepherds the flock. They will be servant-enablers to the Ministry Teams assigned to them. The Elder Body will be made up of ministerial staff (paid) Elder(s) and lay Elders.

Deacons: (Acts 6:1-6; 1 Timothy 3:8-13) A Deacon is an ordained man charged with the task of serving the material and spiritual needs of the church. The Deacon Body or The Deacons is a team of Deacons. They will give leadership and direction to the physical aspect of church life as servant-enablers to the Ministry Teams assigned to them. Ultimately the Deacon Body reports to and is accountable to the Elder Body.
